Arrival
My work often leads me to remarkable destinations, and this time, I found myself stepping out of San Francisco International Airport into a mid-70s embrace. The sun played peekaboo through my sunglasses during the ride, but it was the moment we approached the iconic Golden Gate Bridge—shrouded in mist—that I knew I was in for something special. A mere five minutes later, I arrived at the doorstep of Cavallo Point Lodge, where the temperature dropped by a refreshing ten degrees.

As I surveyed the property, several charming buildings caught my eye-so steeped in history. The bellmen, ever attentive, whisked away my luggage and directed me to the lobby—a cozy nook tucked up the stairs and to the right. The check-in process was a breeze, and here’s the delightful twist: They asked which floor I preferred (first or second, with stairs only). Personalization at its finest! The receptionist informed me that my room awaited in the contemporary building, promising a view of the majestic Golden Gate Bridge. And so, with a friendly bellman as my guide, I ascended the hill in a golf cart, key in hand, ready for my adventure to unfold. What a splendid beginning!

Room
My room—oh, what a sanctuary! The promise of that Golden Gate view was fulfilled. Inside, cozy sitting areas invited quiet contemplation, while outside, the landscape unfolded in all its serene glory. No air conditioning or furnace here, but fear not—the ceiling fan and fireplace were perfect. Blissful nights awaited.

Amenities

Cavallo Point spared no effort in pampering its guests. Mornings began with a ritual: coffee, tea, and pastries in the lobby—a gentle start to the day. And as the workday ended, wine hour beckoned—a chance to unwind and share stories. But wait, there’s more! Feeling adventurous? Borrow a vintage electric bike or a sleek Lexus for a few hours—gas and tolls included. Your room, too, brimmed with thoughtful touches: filtered water, snacks, and a comforting brew of coffee or tea. But that’s not all—cooking classes, painting sessions, dog training (yes, really!), yoga, and a gastronomic journey through their restaurants. And if you fancy some retail therapy, the shops await. Fitness center? Spa? Consider them your personal oases.
Sausalito
Now, let’s venture beyond the lodge. Picture this: I hopped into a Lexus and set course for Sausalito—a decision I’d recommend to anyone seeking magic. With colleagues in tow, we explored charming shops, gazed across the bay at the city’s skyline, and watched ferries glide in and out. But the pièce de résistance? Barrel House Tavern, where we sipped sparkling brut from Napa Valley on the sun-kissed deck. Seals frolicked below, and life felt perfectly aligned.

Yet, a pang of regret—I yearned for more time. Sausalito, with its walkable streets, art galleries, and hidden gems, whispered secrets of exploration. Museums, parks, the city itself, and wine country—all within reach. Why didn’t I linger? Learn from my haste: Stay a little longer, soak it all in. And if you’re planning your own San Francisco escapade, reach out—I’ll be your guide.
